stream (AC 3). Most DVDs contain Dolby
Digital audio.

technology that combines the information for
two additional channels (C enter, S urround)
in a s tandard stereo signal. T he Dolby
S urround signal can be played on any stereo
equipment, however a Dolby S urround
Decoder is needed to s eparate the C enter
and S urround channels from the s tereo channels.

DV D (Digital V ers atile Dis c)
The DV D disc is a 12 cm disc, containing
two layers of digital information. T he
maximum amount of data on a single-layer ,
single-s ided DVD can be up to 4.7 G igabytes.
A two-layer double-s ided DV D can be
up to 18 G igabytes.
